Google Play subscription refunds come into compliance with EU 14-day rule

The Google Play Shop is lastly acknowledging the rights of European customers to ask for a withdrawal and refund of an app membership within 14 days as permitted by European Union law.

Updates to its refund policies reveal that digital services (such as file storage and dating services) are now based on a complete refund duration of 14 days. This brings Google into compliance with a customer law enacted in 2014 needing the so-called “cool-off duration” for any continuous service that needs routine payment for customers to keep.

Refunds for apps will still fall under the two-hour courtesy window that is used to all other areas. Non-EEA zones likewise are just permitted 2 hours to obtain an instantaneous refund from Google. After that point, users need to work out with the app designer.
